Biography

Scott, the managing member of Cochran & Edwards, LLC., is an “AV” rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell and has been practicing law for over 25 years. He has been lead counsel in hundreds of cases representing plaintiffs, defendants, governments, individuals and insurance companies in a wide variety of matters including complex commercial matters, condemnation, personal injury and wrongful death. He has successfully tried numerous cases to jury verdicts. He currently focuses on complex business disputes and related litigation.

Scott has long been the City Attorney for Smyrna, Georgia, a fast growing progressive suburb of Atlanta and has represented the City before numerous state and federal courts, including landmark constitutional cases in the Georgia Supreme Court. In the course of this representation, he was an integral part of the team that achieved the National award-winning redevelopment of downtown Smyrna. Scott has been special trial counsel to other governments within the metro Atlanta area and has consistently been listed in James Magazine, an affiliate of InsiderAdvantage, Georgia, as one of the most influential attorneys in Georgia in his field.

Scott has been active in the corporate community and was a founding member of the Board of Directors of Healthtronics, Inc. a medical technology company that traded publicly on the NASDAQ Exchange until acquired by another public company. He served on the board of directors for the company for nine years and was a part of the team that helped it grow to become the largest company in its field in the country. Scott is general counsel to local banks and is a second- generation Cobb County lawyer.
