Defective / Negligent Road Construction

Active road construction seems to be a way of life for those living and driving around Metro Atlanta.  While the goal of any road construction project is to make the road safer when completed, during construction, the roads are much more dangerous to drivers, passengers, pedestrians and workers alike.  A recent study showed that 64% of highway contractors report that motor vehicles had crashed into their construction work zones during the past year, putting motorists and workers at risk.  While many of these crashes are the result of driver error, many others are caused by inadequate warning signs, traffic control plans and inadequate or missing transition/taper zones.  Lawyers at Cochran & Edwards used to represent road contractors in litigation with the Georgia DOT and have taken depositions of the senior most-officers within the Georgia DOT, including Commissioner Harold Linnenkohl.
