Scott, the managing member of Cochran & Edwards, LLC., has been lead counsel in hundreds of cases representing plaintiffs, defendants, governments, individuals, and insurance companies in a wide variety of matters including eminent domain (condemnation), complex commercial matters, personal injury, and wrongful death. He has successfully tried numerous cases to jury verdicts and currently focuses on eminent domain (condemnation), complex business disputes and litigation related to real estate. His peers have given him the top rating of AV through the Martindale Hubbell rating system.

Scott has long been the City Attorney for Smyrna, Georgia, a fast-growing progressive suburb of Atlanta and has represented the City before numerous state and federal courts, including landmark constitutional cases in the Georgia Supreme Court. During this representation, he was an integral part of the team that achieved the National award-winning redevelopment of downtown Smyrna and in 2019, was named “Citizen of the Year” by the Chamber of Commerce. Scott has been special trial counsel to other governments within the metro Atlanta area and has consistently been listed in James Magazine, an affiliate of Insider Advantage, Georgia, as one of the most influential attorneys in Georgia in his field.

Scott has been active in the corporate community and was a founding member of the Board of Directors of Healthtronics, Inc., a medical technology company that traded publicly on the NASDAQ Exchange until it was acquired by another public company. He served on the board of directors for the company for nine years and was a part of the team that helped it grow to become the largest company in its field in the country. Scott has served as outside general counsel to local banks and is a second-generation Cobb County lawyer.
